Denver Rocks! Let's do cool things!
Join Rebecca Hart, curator of modern and contemporary art, Denver Art Museum, and Dean Sobel, director, Clyfford Still Museum, for an informal conversation that will delve into the issues presented in the two-venue exhibition Shade: Clyfford Still/Mark Bradford.
Abstract Expressionism, considered by some to be an outmoded, near-classical movement from another century, has considerable relevance for Mark Bradford, and Clyfford Still in particular, in today’s art world. Hart and Sobel shed further light on this unlikely pairing, while also discussing the connections between art and politics and Bradford’s work in the context of his contemporaries.
Doors open for lecture at 6 p.m.
[Lecture tickets are $5 for DAM/CSM members, $10 others]
Pre-lecture exhibition viewing at Clyfford Still Museum and Denver Art Museum, 5:30–6:30 p.m.; separate admission ticket required.
