Denver Rocks! Let's do cool things!
Join History Colorado for a screening of the classic film noir masterpiece, Out of the Past (1947), followed by a lecture by renowned philosopher, Robert Pippin.
Prof. Robert Pippin (Evelyn Stefansson Nef Distinguished Service Professor of Social Thought and Philosophy at the University of Chicago) has authored or edited nearly two dozen books, including Hollywood Westerns and American Mythand Fatalism in American Film Noir.
Jacques Tourneur’s gripping 1947 film, Out of the Past (starring Robert Mitchum, Jane Greer, and Kirk Douglas) is considered by many film historians to be the paradigmatic example of film noir on account of its dark cinematography, serpentine plot and classic femme fatale. The Library of Congress added the film to the United States National Film Registry in 1991 on account of its being deemed “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.
