Denver Rocks! Let's do cool things!
Celebrate the publication of Navajo Textiles, a beautiful new volume highlighting 57 incredible Navajo weavings in the Crane American Indian Collection. Scholars, curators, and Navajo weavers lent their insights into the rich history and artistry of the artifacts, accompanied by beautiful photographs. Laurie Webster, a preeminent textiles scholar and lead author, will share how this fine collection arrived at the Museum, how the collaboration brought forth new understandings and relationships, and why she describes the weavings as the “best Navajo textile collection you’ve never heard of.” A selection of textiles will be displayed. A book sale and signing will follow the lecture.
