Denver Rocks! Let's do cool things!
Free and open to the public.
Three times each year, the Clyfford Still Museum presents a seasonal keynote. Curators, art historians, cultural theorists and other luminaries are invited to present on a special topic related to a special exhibition or to larger concerns in the field of art, art history, culture, and museums. This season, join Glenn Adamson for a discussion about the practice of making in contemporary art and craft and its intersection with museum practice.
In recent years, we have seen a huge resurgence of interest in making of all kinds. Among amateurs, artists and designers alike, there is a newfound respect for skill, craftsmanship, and material intelligence. What is the role of museums, traditionally places for quiet reflection, in fostering this enthusiasm for interactive process? Adamson will consider this question and discuss the live activation-oriented approach that he and his team are pursuing at MAD.
