Luminarias de Santa Fe

December 9, 2016 @ 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Celebrating the beauty and tradition of the holiday season, this signature free family event—Luminarias de Santa Fe—is becoming one of the fastest growing holiday attractions in Denver, adding to the beautification of the Santa Fe Drive corridor. Much like the holiday lighting of the Denver City and County building or the Parade of Lights, Luminarias de Santa Fe Drive takes on a life of its own with numerous blocks of brightly glowing luminaries, carolers spreading holiday cheer, mariachis, Santa Claus, Aztec dancers, and more. The history of luminarias is steeped in tradition originating in Spain during the 17th century. The tradition spread to the new world and eventually the American Southwest, most notably Santa Fe, New Mexico. Carrying on this tradition in Denver means teaming up with art galleries, restaurants, and other Santa Fe Drive businesses to help us make the event as festive as possible.

You can make your own luminarias at one of the four stations below and help us place them on the street! Each station will have all the supplies needed to make your own set of luminarias and volunteers to help you make them and show you where to place them. Each station will also have cocoa so bring your little ones!
