Free Day at The Kirkland Museum

August 1, 2015 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm

If you haven’t visited this incredible gem of a museum, then go today!! (Just remember that the museum doesn’t allow kids under 13 as the museum is set up “salon style” meaning it’s like touring through a house with some objects just out in the open)

From the Kirkland: On August 1, 1876, Colorado became the 38th state of the Union. Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art will celebrate Colorado Day on Saturday, August 1, 2015 by offering free admission to Colorado residents age 13 and above. Colorado’s place in American art ranks very high among the fifty states, probably in the top 10, not only because of the important artists who made this state their home, but because of the famous artists who visited and worked here.  Kirkland Museum displays a major survey of Colorado art and some regional art with over 650 works by more than 200 artists shown at any one time. The museum also features a retrospective of Colorado’s distinguished painter Vance Kirkland (1904–1981), and one of the most important public displays of international decorative art in North America from Arts & Crafts to Postmodern.

Free admission applies to Colorado residents (with ID) only on Saturday, August 1, 2015.  Open 11-5, no children under 13.
