Denver Rocks! Let's do cool things!
In early April 1917, the United States intervened in World War I. As the government mobilized soldiers, supplies, and funds, it also enacted a propaganda program aimed at encouraging pro-war sentiments—and at stifling dissent (through vigilantism, if necessary). The ensuing government-induced hysteria led to widespread repression and reaction.
Denver experienced its share of upheavals, and Phil Goodstein’s lecture will focus on how the city experienced the war and the disruptions that came in its wake.
