Beyond Earth

February 13, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Imagine the future of space colonization with Amanda R. Hendrix, coauthor of Beyond Earth: Our Path to a New Home in the Planets, as she examines the realities facing this ambitious endeavor. Is Titan, one of Saturn’s moons, with a weather cycle and nitrogen atmosphere, a better option for colonization than the desert landscapes of Mars? Is humanity really on the brink of a “Golden Age” of space science as entrepreneurs such as Elon Musk and Richard Branson pursue the commercial potential of human access to space? Hendrix will examine the political and scientific obstacles to turning space colonization into a viable quest. A book sale and signing will follow the lecture.
